Clifford Wade Smith, 80, of Columbus, GA. passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, Monday, September 15, 2014. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 19, 2014 beginning at 11:00 A.M. EST at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907, interment will conclude at Parkhill Cemetery. Reverend Hank Reeves will be officiating services. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home. Clifford Wade Smith was born August 30, 1934 in Geneva County, AL. son of the late Fred Smith and Gussie Sewell Smith. Wade served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for ten years. Wade earned good Conduct Bronze Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award and a Bronze Oak Cluster. He later became an electrician and was employed by Mead Coated Board for 35 years, where he served as president of the Union. Wade believed in hard work and proved that on a daily basis in all that he strived to accomplish for his family. Wade was a member of Mt. Hermon Lodge 304 and F&AM. Other than his parents Wade is preceded in death by his devoted wife Vera Smith, of a wonderful 55 years. Survivors include, daughters, Tammy Smith Dyksma (Greg) of Columbus, Ga, Lisa Michelle Smith (Gaye), of Columbus, GA; sons, Teddy Michael Smith (Betty Moore), of Fortson, GA, Tony Mitchell Smith of Columbus, GA, Terry Mark Smith (Dana) of Box Springs, Ga; sister, Glenda Sue Shiver, of Dothan, AL; grandchildren, Adam Wade Smith, Lyndsey Smith, Jennifer Crawford, Brady Kinkade , Amanda Reece Dyksma, Nicholas Tanner Dyksma, Lydia Marie Marsolf, Nicholas Ryan Marsolf, Kurtis Eyan Smith, Katie Leanne Smith and Andrew Wesley Smith; eleven great grand -children; Wade also leaves behind his best friends (Dogs) Puddie and Muffin; and many loving extended family members and caring friends
