Mr. Kirkland was born February 11, 1941, in Phenix City, AL, son of the late James B. He loved the car business. When it came to work, he was happiest when he was either at an auto auction or selling reliable transportation to friends in the community. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Brenda Crockett Kirkland of Phenix City, AL; two daughters, Vickie Taylor of Smiths Station, AL and Tracie Starr and husband Buck of Auburn, AL; grandchildren, Dudley Taylor (Brett), Pennie Ranew (Zach), Anna Lynn Starr, Abbie Starr and Allie Starr; two great-grandchildren, Kirkland and Tate Ranew; beloved nephew James “Bubba” Kirkland (Merry) ,beloved lifelong caregiver , Daisy Mae Tate,  as well as, several extended family and friends.  The family is also especially thankful to his caregivers Georgia Bigleow, Sally Cook and Denise Braxton.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909.  Because time with his family is what he valued most, an additional way to honor Mr. Kirkland would be to simply take time to be with those you cherish.
