Cody Thomas Smith

Cody Thomas Smith, 77, of Phenix City, AL passed away early Monday morning, July 17, 2017 in the comfort of his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EDT on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Epworth United Methodist Church with Rev. Grant Parker officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.

Mr. Smith was born December 25, 1939 in Dothan, AL to the late Latness Smith and Mildred Marie Bowen Smith. He was a big part of the Ledger-Enquirer for over 43 years in both sales and management.  He was a former member of the Columbus Sertoma Club, and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and golf.  He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Phenix City.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Clyde Ray Smith.

He is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Judith Gail “Judy” Smith of Phenix City, AL; daughter, Alissa Gail Stone and husband Ricky of Midland, GA; 2 sons, Andy Smith and Bill Johnson of Atlanta, GA and Matt Smith of Phenix City, AL; sister, Patricia Whitehead and husband Jay of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, Charles L. Smith and wife Jewell of Bartow, FL; two grandchildren Kennedy Stone and Tucker Stone; several nieces, nephews and other extended family church family and many caring friends.
