Constance Whatley Duncan, 81, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Phenix City Health Care.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am EDT Monday morning, May 16, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Phenix City with Rev. Bruce Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Duncan was born September 2, 1934 in Skipperville, AL to the late Cadmus Whatley and Maudell Baker Barr. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was deeply devoted to her family. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church and had served in many capacities of the church. She enjoyed singing in the choir and was a member of the church choir for over 50 years. She loved playing the piano, participating in all church functions, and spending quality time with her grandchildren. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Baker Whatley.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Forrest “Ford” Duncan of Phenix City, AL, two sons, Garry Duncan and wife Kay Lynn of Salem, AL, and David Duncan of Franklin, TN, one daughter, Kristen Blackshear and husband Chris of Phenix City, AL; one sister, Martha Martin of Peachtree city, GA, and two grandchildren, Coleton Adams, and Katelyn Blackshear, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
