Cris Damon Wilson, 52, of Salem, Alabama, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Bethany House in Auburn, AL due to cancer.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am EST on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Little White Church on Lee Road 250 in Bleeker, AL. ( Turn right onto Lee Road 250 at Bleeker Junction, 1.5 miles on Right), with James Kingsmill officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00-8:00pm EST at Vance Memorial Chapel 3738 Highway 431 North, Phenix City, Alabama. Interment will be at 1:30pmEST at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.
Mr. Wilson was born in Columbus, GA to the Late Felix Cash Wilson and Rebecca Newton McVay-McLean. Mr. Wilson served his country faithfully in the United States Navy with three combat operations: Desert Shield, Desert Storm and Gulf War. Mr. Wilson retired as an E-7 after twenty years of service.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 31 years Jackie Wilson; one daughter Ashley Gayle Wilson of Salem, AL; one son Justin William McClure and wife Heather of Virginia Beach, VA; Step-father James McVay; three sisters Lori Harrell and Husband Dennis of Smiths, AL, Rhonda Awad and husband Abe of Ladonia, AL and Jamie Sanabria and husband Rick of Phenix City, AL; two brothers Cash Wilson of Valley, AL and James McVay and wife Frances of Phenix City, AL; three grandchildren Zachary Huston, Emma McClure and Idris McClure.
The family was like extend a heart-felt Thank You to the staff of the Bethany House for the devotion and care during his time of need.
