Cwo4 (Retired) Bobby Joe Martin

CWO4 (Retired) Bobby Joe Martin, 82, of Peachtree City, GA, and formally of Phenix City, AL passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in the comfort of his home in Peachtree City, GA.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 1:00 pm EST Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm EST at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.

Mr. Martin was born August 20, 1934 in Phenix City, AL to the late Joseph Warren Martin and Mittie Bell Johnson Martin.  He served our country proudly in the United States Navy and retired from the Naval Reserve as a CWO4.  He had worked as a Maintenance Planner and retired from Mead Coated Board with 35​years of service.  He was one of the co-founders for Mead Federal Credit Union; he had served on the Board and was a past President of Mead Federal Credit Union.  He was an Artist and had the gift of transferring visions from his heart and eyes into his paintings.  Mr. Martin loved music and playing the harmonica.  He had taught Sunday School and was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church.

​He loved people and was known to be mischievous.  With his cunning mind, a twinkle in his eye, and an impish grin, those who have had the pleasure of knowing and loving him will never forget him as a fun-loving, optimistic, prankster.

​He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Martin Garrard and husband Bill, the mother of his only child Martha Martin, one very special grandson, Martin Slocumb and wife Karla and a beloved brother-in-law, Ford Duncan.
