Cynthia D. O’Hara Bryson, 69, of Ft. Mitchell, AL died peacefully surrounded by her family at her home on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Ralph Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM (EST) at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bryson was born December 29, 1953 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Howard Gerald Shiver and Arlene Dorothy Gerber Shiver Hanes. She taught Graphic Design and Architecture at Wallace Community College for 14 years before retiring. Cynthia enjoyed attending Oswichee Baptist Church and worshiping with family and friends. She loved to dance to various kinds of music to include Rock, County and the Blues always enjoying herself. Cynthia also enjoyed local bands, Haywire and Band of Thieves. She was a great cook and would often experiment with various recipes, spices or ingredients to create awesome meals for her family and friends. Her love of animals seemed at times to outweigh her love of her family. She never met a stray animal she did not like or an animal she did not want to raise at her home. A favorite past time was relaxing on her porch watching her geese, gennies, dogs, and the deer as they moved about in the yard and woods. We will always remember her warm smile, love of family and animals and her commitment to her family.
Mrs. Bryson was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Gerald Shiver and Arlene Dorothy Hanes.
Survivors include her husband, Chris Bryson, Ft. Mitchell, AL; three sons, Joseph “Joey” Eller, Adam Chalkley (Heather) and Jamie Chalkley; daughter, Pam Norman (Chris); stepson, Steven Bryson (Mary); three brothers, Howard Shiver (Neva), Hubert Shiver (Leslie) and David Smith (Diane); seven precious grandchildren, Emily, Rose, Kolton, Alyssa, Ryla, Destiny and Alexis; two great-grandchildren, Ariella and T.J.; several nieces, nephews and friends.
