Darlene P. Wilson, age 66, resident of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital. Private services are being held by the family.
Mrs. Wilson, daughter of the late Dominic J. Picciano and Pearl Joan Curtis Picciano, was born May 14, 1954 in Baraga County, Michigan. Born of an Italian immigrate and raised on Keweenaw Bay Indian Reservation, she lived in a world different than many. Her and her family lived off the land. Mrs. Wilson was raised Catholic and married a young Coast Guard man. They had a son in 1972. Later she had twin boys, who have since passed away. Mrs. Wilson loved to fish and draw. She also enjoyed creating and designing Indian crafts. One of her greatest joys in life, however, was listening to blues music, Johnny Taylor being one of her favorite performers. During her working years, she was manager of a screen-printing plant where she worked faithfully for many years. The family remembers her as a very strong and straight forward lady.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her brothers, Dominic J. Picciano, Jr. and Terrance Picciano. She is survived by her son, Jay B. Moore of Columbus; four sisters, Sharon Wise, Barbara Picciano Jones, Debra Picciano, and Shirley Stevens; two brothers, Kerry Allen Picciano and Leroy Picciano; numerous other relatives and friends.
