David Howard Posey

David Howard Posey, Sr., 72 of Salem, AL, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at his home.   

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EST, on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at Vance Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ricky Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, with full military honors. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Posey was born on October 12, 1943 in Moultrie, GA, son of the late David Franklin Posey and Kathryn Howard Posey.  After the death of his mother at the age of 10, he was raised by his late grandmother, Ma Beachie Howard.   He served his country in Vietnam with the United States Navy, and later served over 20 years in the Army National Guard.  Mr. Posey retired after many years of service as a Federal Police Officer.  He was member of the Masonic Lodge in Crawford, AL, the Fletcher McCollister American Legion Post and was also a member of Grace Freewill Baptist Church.

Other than his parents and grandmother, he is preceded in death by a sister, Jeannie Posey Fulford.

He is survived by his loving wife Linda Dempsey Posey of Salem, AL; daughters, Kathryn Posey Bryant and husband John of Fernandina Beach, FL and Ashlyn Michelle Posey of Salem, AL; a son, David Howard Posey, II of Columbus, GA; a brother, Samuel Eugene Posey and wife Kim of Franklin, PA; grandchildren, Peyton Emily Bryant, Kelsey Ember Bryant, Harrison Temple Bryant, Connor Michael Bryant, Blake Howard Posey and Alexander David Posey; several other family members and many caring friends.
