David Spires, age 55, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at his residence. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, 1 p.m. according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. till 12:30 p.m.
David, son of Barbara Mae Smith Spires and the late Richard Emmitt Spires, was born February 28, 1968, in Columbus. He enjoyed spending time listening to his stereo; collecting watches and working on them; and coin collecting. David always enjoyed visiting with friends and going camping. The one thing he always looked forward to was spending time with his cats, Poo Poo and Baby Girl. The family remembers David as a kind and loving man with a giving heart, one who always believed in helping anyone who had a need.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Steven Spires. David is survived by his mother, Barbara Spires of Phenix City; two sisters, Cheryl Gilmore-Dorrill of Salem, Alabama and Cindy Hardwick and her husband Kenny of Phenix City; one uncle, Robert Powell and his wife Linda of Carrollton, Georgia; aunts, Joyce Simmons, and Maxine Culliver and her husband Ricky; nieces, Sara Beth Stiller and her husband Brandon, and Amy Sims and her husband Todd; nephews, Jonathan Powell, Brandon Powell, Blake Hardwick, and Cameron Hardwick; great-nieces and great-nephews, Gavin Powell, Parker Sims, Miller Sims, Mayson Folds Powell, Londen Stiller, Jaxon Stiller, and Aulden Stiller; loving companion, Judy Wilkes; many cousins, other relatives, and friends.
