David “Todd” Louis Karnes, 61, of Smiths Station, AL died peacefully while at Piedmont Columbus Midtown, Columbus, GA with his family close by him.
A private Service of Remembrance will be held at a later date according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. A private interment will be held at Lakeview Memory Gardens at a later date.
Mr. Karnes was born November 25, 1963, in Hawaii, the son of Gloria Fuentes Karnes. He was a Master Mechanic for Acura of Columbus for 22 years. Todd as he was known to family and friends, was also named the top Technician in the Nation for Acura. He enjoyed racing at East Alabama and drove car # 29. Todd also found great please in working on his car when not racing it. He was an avid fisherman and family man. Having his family over was the highlight of his day.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends, however anytime we catch a bass or watch a race we will smile and remember all of the good times together with him.
Mr. Karnes was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Edna Barker.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda Hickman, Smiths Station, AL; two daughters, Kassie Adams (Brice) and Kari Hickman; two sons, Cody Hickman (Seaira) and Brandon Hickman (Brittany); one sister, Kitty Griggs (Alex); one brother, Steve Karnes and a brother-in-law, Jack Barker; seven grandchildren, Ashlyn, Lexi, Mark “Jr”, Miriah, Avery, Brayden and Corbin, with number eight, Hudson to arrive soon; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
