David Martin Funderburk

David Martin Funderburk, 81, of Phenix City, Alabama died Sunday, December 10, 2023 peacefully at home.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. EST on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home , Phenix City, AL with Rev. Dr. Aaron Baldridge officiating. Interment will follow in the family cemetery in Seale, AL. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M at the funeral home.

Mr. Funderburk was born January 1, 1942 in Columbus, GA. He is the son of the late Theodore Martin Funderburk and the late Ola Duncan Funderburk of Phenix City, AL. He was proceeded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Mollis Jones Funderburk.

He was in the first enrolling class of Auburn University, graduating in 1964. Mr. Funderburk devoted 31 years of his life to the profession of education, leaving a loving mark on countless students’ lives. His unwavering dedication and passion touched the lives of many, fostering a legacy that will be remembered with gratitude and respect. Along with being an educator, he was a farmer with a deep love of agriculture.

He is survived by his precious children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: son Todd Funderburk; son Brad Funderburk and his wife Christi, their children, Annie and Johnny; daughter Tiffany Chaffin and husband David, their children, Lauren Chaffin and Brittany Cape and husband, Jesse, great-grandchildren, Molli and August Cape; son Nicholas Funderburk; brother, Wayne Duncan; many cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved friend, Faye Benton.
