David R. Phillips, 68 of Phenix City, AL passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA
Graveside services will be held 11:00 am EST on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City with Reverend Sherry Wade officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside service on Wednesday.
David was born September 5, 1954 in Donalsonville, GA to Virginia Hayes Phillips and the late John Phillips. He was employed as an engineer for Norfolk Southern Railway and retired after 26 plus years of loyal and faithful service. He was passionate about the game of football, it thrilled him to engage intensely as he watched it on TV, but none more thrilling than supporting the Alabama Crimson Tide every weekend during the college season. He enjoyed golf and baseball, music and attending concerts, and traveling to the beach. He was a Christian by faith.
Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Megan Leigh Phillips, and a brother, Wayne Phillips.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Genene Wynn Phillips of Phenix City, AL; a precious grandson, Landon Phillips, brothers-in-law, Charles Wynn and wife Tamyra, and Lamar Wynn and wife Gail; his mother, Virginia Hayes Phillips of Dothan, AL; one brother, Johnny Phillips of Dothan, AL and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many caring friends.
