David Lincoln “Linc” Shelton, 54, of Smiths Station, AL, passed away on March 2, 2025. A visitation will be held at 10:00 am EST on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL 36867, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am EST, concluding with a committal service at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Linc was born on March 19, 1970, in Phenix City, AL, to John David “JD” Shelton and the late Patricia Ann Shelton. After graduating from Glenwood high School in 1988, Linc attended the University of Alabama, obtaining his bachelor’s degree in finance and banking and worked in risk management until his passing. He was a huge Alabama football fan, being a “Tide Pride” member for years with season tickets to attend all the games, home and away. He had a great friend, Billy Poole, who he enjoyed spending time with. Linc enjoyed golf and classic cars and loved to admire nature. He would spend a fortune on bird feed and spend hours sitting on the porch watching nature and wildlife. Linc especially loved the mountains and going to the beach when he could. His children cherish memories of him taking them out on their lake with a paddle boat to fish and spend quality time with them. Spending time with his children was one of his favorite things to do. He also often reminisced on a trip to California with his dad. Linc took great pictures and loved good food. He was a contemplative person, had a great sense of humor and knew how to have a good time. Linc was a kindhearted man who could talk for hours with anyone and always tried to find ways to make life easier for others. He believed that Jesus Christ came to earth and died for their sins. Linc will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
David “Linc” Shelton is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Ann Shelton; and grandparents, Mary Lora Shelton and Quinton B. Shelton, and Marshell E. Long and Ruth Ann Long. He is survived by his father, John David “JD” Shelton; children, Taylor Grace and Noah (Lauren) Shelton; sister, Kimberly Culpepper (Kenneth); and nephew, Dalton (Marline) Culpepper.
