Debbie Lynn Keyes, 65, of Smiths Station, AL stepped through Heaven’s Gates and into the arms of Jesus while at her residence on Sunday, August 08, 2021, with her family by her side.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM (EST) on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Grace Baptist Church, Columbus, GA with Rev. Seth Hon officiating, according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. A private interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens, Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Mrs. Keyes was born July 03, 1956, in Ft. Bragg, NC daughter of Marshall Seigfred and the late Frances Andrews Seigfred. She was the “Face” of Grace Christian School serving for over 35 years. Ms. Debbie served in many capacities while with Grace Baptist Church and School. She began as the Church Secretary for former pastors Hodges and Price and served as the K-4 teacher for 15 years. For the last 17 years, she has been the school secretary at Grace Christian School. In that role, it was not only her joy to connect with the current students but also to stay connected with the alumni. At the church she was known as the “Gum Lady” passing out treats to all of her “adopted” grandchildren. She was often sought out for a listening ear and godly advice. Ms. Debbie embodied what a godly woman should be in life. She has left an indelible mark on our lives and the lives of those she met.
Mrs. Keyes was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Andrews Seigfred and a sister, Dara Costiloe.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Greg Keyes, Smiths Station, AL; four daughters, Stephanie Goldsborough (Jeremy), CA, April Lennon (Travis), KS, Heather Allison (Brian), MO and Kristina Lenhart (Michael), MI; three siblings, Walter Seigfred (Tedi), Patrice Torbush and Deanna Garcia; twelve grandchildren; numerous “adopted” grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
