Mrs. Debbie Ashcraft Mitchell, 64, of Phenix City, AL passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm EST Friday, June 25, 2021 at the Dwelling at Auburn Heights Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Wayne Scarborough officiating. A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the church.
Mrs. Mitchell was born December 5, 1956 in Tallassee, AL, daughter of the late Bill Ashcraft and Charlotte Thompson Ashcraft. She retired as an Office Manager from Ashcraft Family Dental after many years of service. Mrs. Mitchell served beside her husband in the ministry at Auburn Heights Baptist Church, where she was a member since 1987. It was her vision to open Common Grounds Coffee Shop to serve all members of the community. The coffee shop is now open and flourishing. Mrs. Mitchell loved to travel, especially spending time in Wyoming. However, her favorite job was to be a mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Rodney Mitchell; a daughter, Katie Mitchell Clampit and husband Jonathan of Birmingham, AL; a son, Shane Blankenship and wife Kim of Salem, AL; a sister, Tammy Glover and husband Larry of Phenix City, AL; a brother, Billy Ashcraft and wife Mary of Salem, AL; three grandchildren, Cane Blankenship, Lincoln Blankenship and Mitchell Clampit; several other extended family, church family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Auburn Heights Baptist Church, 4207 Auburn Road, Phenix City, AL 36870 and please designate the funds for the Common Grounds Coffee Shop.
