Deborah Nevels Alligood

Deborah Nevels Alligood, 72, of Phenix City, Al died at her home on Monday, August 12, 2024.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM (EST) on Thursday, August 15, 2024 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Ricky Ward officiating. A private interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. 

Ms. Alligood was born January 05, 1952 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Willie Chester “W.C” Nevels and Catherine Louella Wells Nevels. She retired from Columbus Clinic after working several years as a Lab Tech. Ms. Alligood enjoyed gardening and growing flowers of all types. She was also a SCUBA diver in her younger years and found great comfort both in and around water. Ms. Alligood was crafty and enjoyed sewing. 

She was very special to our family, and we will miss her dearly. 

Ms. Alligood was preceded in death by her parents W.C. and Catherine Nevels; a son, Gene Anthony “Tony” Best and a brother, Bill Nevels.

Survivors include her daughter, Alison Joyner, Phenix City, AL; a sister, Catherine Boswell (Dennis); two brothers, Wayne Nevels (Dean) and Jimmy Nevels (Cheryle); three grandchildren, Brandon Best (Robyn), Cadence Joyner and Braelyn Miller; two great-grandchildren, Jack Best and little Benjamin who will be here soon; several nieces, nephews and friends.
