Mrs. Dolly Kennedy Stokes

Mrs. Dolly Kennedy Stokes, 86, of Phenix City, AL passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Phenix City Healthcare in Phenix City, AL.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm EST on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL, with Pastor Blake Russell officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stokes was born December 5, 1934 in Phenix City, AL, daughter of the late Reuben Ellis Kennedy, Sr. and Mary Culpepper Kennedy.  She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.  Mrs. Stokes was a long time member of Lakewood Baptist Church.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James William Stokes, as well as a sister, Sally Kennedy.

She is survived by a son, Steven E. Stokes and wife Donna of Phenix City, AL; a daughter, Kathy Coulter and husband Sonny of Phenix City, AL; a brother, Ellis Kennedy and wife Jamie of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Angie Stokes Rowe (Brandon), Sam Coulter (Crystal) and Jay Coulter (Adicia); seven great-grandchildren, Gage, Bradley, Clayton, Gage, Samantha, Caroline and Craig; several other extended family and friends.
