Don Davis

Don Windle Davis, 71, of Columbus, GA passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital.  A funeral service will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Friday, August 30, 2019 beginning at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jay Bailey officiating.  The family will receive friends Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Don was born in Columbus, GA on October 27, 1947 to the late Perry and Zora Davis.  Don was a Textile Supervisor for much of his professional career, working at Anderson and West Point Pepperell.  He later pursued his passion for lawn maintenance by establishing Davis and Son’s Lawn Care where he owned and operated the business until his retirement.

In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his brother, Dan Davis; his sister, Mary Harrell; and great-grandson, Wyatt Etheridge.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Wanda Davis; five children: Tony Davis of Columbus, GA, Amanda Key (John) of Smiths, AL, Randy “Moose” Davis of Phenix City, AL, Kevin Davis (Napha) of Raleigh-Durham, NC, Scott Davis (Lindsey) of Newport News, VA; six grandchildren:  Justin Etheridge, Shayna Etheridge, Tyler Davis, Bryce Davis, Zachary Davis, and Alivia Davis; one great-grandchild, Annaleise Etheridge; four sisters:  Jewell Grayson (Lamar), Sue Grayson, Alice Smith (Joe), Francis Tharp; and a host of nieces, nephews, and caring friends.

In his retirement, Don enjoyed gardening and spending time with his rescue pets.
