Donald Rex Drinkard, Sr., 91, Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, March 9, 2025, at Arabella Health Care in Phenix City, AL
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am EST on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Rev. Ralph Henderson, Jr., officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City. The family will receive friends at the graveside service.
Mr. Drinkard, the oldest of seven children, was born October 28, 1933, in Jack, AL, son of the late George Alexander Drinkard, Sr. and Lonie Estelle Boutwell Drinkard. He was employed as a spinning room supervisor with Eagle & Phenix Mills for 30 years of loyal and faithful service where he retired. He loved fishing, farming, fixing things, and watching westerns. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Earlene Hammond, Nancy Louise Tew, George Alexander Drinkard, Jr., and Sue Helen Drinkard.
He is survived by the mother of his children, friend, and companion, Ruth Phillips Drinkard of Smiths Station, AL; son, Donald Rex Drinkard, Jr. of Phenix City, AL; daughter, Kathy Henderson (Ralph) of Smiths Station, AL; siblings, Annette Willis of Pensacola, and Linda Wozny (Vic) of Eufaula, AL; brother-in-law, Larry Tew of Calera, AL; sister-in-law, Jan Drinkard of Eufaula, AL; three grandchildren, “Tripp” Ralph Harris Henderson, III (Angie), Heather Blain (Davey), and Brianna Bourgeois (Jerry); seven great grandchildren, Brandt Blain, Bence Blain, Brentley Blain, Cayden Henderson, Camden Henderson, Jolena Bourgeois, and Lucy-Leigh Bourgeois; numerous nieces and nephews, other loving family members, and many caring friends.
