Donald Lee Baker

Donald “Donnie” Lee Baker, 65, of Fortson, GA passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown. A graveside service will be held at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Friday, May 14, 2021 beginning at 2:00 PM with Pastor Robert Moore, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In keeping with efforts to control the spread of COVID-19, social distancing guidelines will be observed, and facemasks will be required.

Donnie was born on December 30, 1955 in Columbus, GA to Jeff Baker and Janice “Jan” Collins Stewart. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine and later served his community as the owner and operator of Atlas Bi-City Fence Company.

In addition to his mother, Donnie is survived by his wife of seven years, Connie Slaten Baker; sons, Garrett Baker of Auburn, AL, Taylor Baker (Hallie) of Columbus, GA and Austin Baker, also of Columbus, GA; sisters, Darlene Wahlert (Lester) of Columbus, GA and Marlene Johnson (Lee) of Box Springs, GA; brothers, Bruce Holt (Rena) of Midland, GA, Danny Baker (Debra) of Box Springs, GA, and Guy Baker of AL; grandchildren, Maverick Baker, Olivia Baker, Tyler Jane Raben, Waylon Raben and one on the way, Kinsley Baker. Other than his father, Donnie is preceded in death by his brother, Steve Holt, grandparents, Howard and Vela Collins, and stepdad, Ernest Holt.
