Donald R. Thedford, Sr.

Donald R. Thedford, Sr., 90, of Columbus, GA passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm est Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. 

Mr. Thedford was born October 10, 1928, son of the late C. E. Thedford and Nettie Wells.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army.  Mr. Thedford worked until he retired at the age of 83 from Gil’s Auto Sales.  He loved all types of sports but his favorite teams were the Georgia Bulldogs football team, the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Christine Joiner Thedford and his second wife, Peggy Halstead Thedford.

Mr. Thedford is survived by one daughter, Sharon Dyer and husband Gil of Phenix City, AL and ; two sons, Donald R. Thedford, Jr. and wife Sherry of Summerville, GA and Michael Bruce Thedford of Columbus, GA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.
