Doris Jean Jackson

Doris Jean Burnett Jackson, 88, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at home in Milton, FL with many family members by her side.

Doris was born August 02, 1936 in Sylacauga, AL daughter of the late Dorse Burnett and Iula Dunnaway Burnett. Doris was a devoted wife and mother that touched many lives. Doris and Tom raised their family together in Columbus, Ga and finally settled in Phenix City, AL. Doris enjoyed restoring antique furniture and spending time with her many Grandchildren. Doris’ strong beliefs and love of God was always shown in her compassion for others and the guidance she gave to her family.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Dorse and Iula Burnett; her husband, Thomas B. Jackson; a son Thomas B. Jackson II, sister Joy Dean McCain, brother, Danny Burnett, granddaughter Chloe Jackson and great grandson Carter Meadows.

Survivors include her four daughters, Joy Hodge, Midland, GA, Amanda Jackson, Cairo, GA, Jean Gresham, Midland, GA, and Rae Hughey (Robert), Milton, FL; one son, Thomas Wade Jackson (Carrie), Cusetta, GA; nine grandchildren, Jessica Morgan (Eric), Terri Reid, Amanda Reading (Josh), David Gresham, Connie Jean Gresham, Renee Trippe (Austin), Robert Hughey (Shayanne), Rachel Hughey, Alan Townsend and 16 great-grandchildren.

Doris’ children would like to thank Shayanne Hughey for all the devoted hours of love and care she gave to mother.

Private Services will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL.
