Doris Mae Herring

Doris Mae Herring of Dixie Community passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Magnolia Manor, Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm EST, on Friday, January 16, 2015, at Shiloh Baptist Church, with Reverend Mike Turner officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm EST, at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, AL

Mrs. Herring was born on July 1, 1917 in Chambers County, AL to the late John E. Bell and Addie Mae Jones Bell. She was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She loved to work in the yard tending her flowers as long as she was able.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her son Charlie C. Herring, brothers, Horace Bell, Robert Bell, Bill Bell, Ralph Bell, and Bruce Bell, and son in-law Joe McCurry, Sr.

She is survived by her husband of 81 years, Millard Herring; daughter, Jeannette McCurry; sister, Etta Wasjewski, husband Richard; daughter in-law Linda Herring; 4 grandchildren, Malinda Evans, husband Scott, Clint Herring, wife Cristen, Lynn Causey, husband Michael, and J.D. McCurry, Jr., wife LeeAnn; 9 great grandchildren, Brett Evans, wife Ashley, Bart Evans, wife Heather, Cara Herring, Cate Herring, Heath Causey, wife Amy, Tyler Causey, J.D. McCurry, III, Sara McCurry, and Brady Maxwell; 3 great-great grandchildren, Parker Evans, Ethan Evans, and Addyson Causey; many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
