Dorothy "Dot" S. Bailey

Dorothy “Dot” Shepherd Bailey, 86, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, March 13, 2018 in the comfort of her home.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm EDT Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home (Vance Memorial Chapel) in Phenix City with Pastor Robert Goodman officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bailey was born July 7, 1931 in Atlanta, GA and was the daughter of John Hoyt Shepherd, Sr. and Bernice Sanders Shepherd.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whom loved her family deeply.  She was a former member of the Phenix City Jaycettes.  She enjoyed sewing, cooking, traveling, and listening to Elvis.  She loved spending quality time with all her family and friends, and she was a member of Summerville Baptist Church in Phenix City.  Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, George Donald “Don” Bailey, and a brother, John Hoyt Shepherd, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Larimore and husband Bob of Opelika, AL,  son, Steve Bailey and wife Kathryn of Phenix City, AL, two sisters, Shirley Shepherd Tuck of Cullman, AL, and Jan Shepherd Pittman and husband Wes of Panama City Beach, FL, two brothers, Randy Shepherd (Tom) of Chapel Hill, NC, and Jay Shepherd and wife Donna of Phenix City, AL (6) grandchildren, Matt Couch, Brian Couch, Patrick Bailey, Davis Larimore (Alison), Simon Larimore, and John Michael Bailey, (4) precious great grandchildren, Madison Larimore, Campbell Larimore, Belle Bailey, and Grace Bailey, and always dear to her heart, Connor Wyatt, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
