Dorothy Godwin, age 85, resident of Smiths Station, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama on Thursday, January 14, 2021, 11 a.m. with Reverend Rodney Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 6-8 p.m.
Mrs. Godwin, daughter of the late Amos Mancil Rowl and Mary Mandy Parker Rowl, was born November 1, 1935 in Sylacauga, Alabama. She was a retired inspector from the textile industry where she worked faithfully for over 34 years. Mrs. Godwin was Baptist by faith, enjoyed doing puzzles, and looked forward to those yearly vacation trips.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Godwin; and a grandson, Jeremy Godwin. Mrs. Godwin is survived by her husband of over 67 years, John Godwin of Smiths Station; one daughter, Jackie Harvey and her husband Eugene of Smiths Station; one son, Gary Godwin of Smiths Station; one grandson, Michael Harvey of Marietta, Georgia; many other relatives and friends.
