Douglas Dallas Teal

Douglas Dallas Teal, 91, of Columbus, GA, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2013, beginning at 11:00 A.M, with Pastor Thomas Pope and Reverend Anthony Hovey officiating at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. Interment will conclude at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, October 25, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 in the evening at the funeral home. Douglas Teal was born October 18, 1922 in Phenix City, AL, son of the late Bert and Minnie Teal. Douglas served his country proudly in the United States Navy touring during WWII; Douglas later went to work for the civil service where he was a Transportation Specialist. Douglas was a Baptist by faith and a member of Central Baptist for over 13 years. Other than his parents Bert and Minnie, Mr. Teal is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 68 years Verna Dove Teal, a sister, Dorothy Rainy and brother, Billy Teal. Douglas Teal is survived by his children; Vickie Miles, and husband Fred, of Newnan, GA, Sandra Snelling, and husband Bill of Columbia, MD, Rickey Teal, of Demopolis, AL, Terry Teal and wife, Joann, of Columbus, GA; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; Douglas also leaves behind two cats, Max and Blackie who loved him dearly, and many other extended family members and caring friends. In lieu of flowers memorials in honor of Douglas Teal may be made to, Central Baptist Church, 8303 Whitesville Rd. Columbus, GA 31904 or to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Rd. Columbus, GA 31909.
