Douglas John Brassell

Douglas John Brassell, 68 of Columbus, GA, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at Midtown Medical Center, in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm EDT, on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Vance Memorial Chapel, in Phenix City, AL, with Pastor Brad Melton officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens and the family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. His grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.

Mr. Brassell was born on April 1, 1947, in New York, NY, the son of the late Jack and Alice Brassell. He attended Living Way a Foursquare Church in Columbus, GA and while at his home in Mexico Beach attended Living Water Church. He retired from Spring Harbor, worked at Regional Rehab and was with West Central Georgia Regional Hospital for 17 years. Mr. Brassell was an altar boy at St. Patrick’s and was a graduate from Central High School and continued studies at Auburn University.

Other than his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Pounds.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Brassell; children, Melody Brassell, Melissa Brassell, Daniel Brassell, wife LaToya, Misty Brassell, Michael Lombardi and Stephen Lombardi, wife Amy; sister, Juanita Wall; brother, Al Brassell, wife Barbara; grandchildren, Dalton, Preston, Tristan, Jesse, Dustin, Hannah, Skylan, Dena, Matt, and Angelina; extended family members and many caring friends.

The family would like to thank the respiratory staff and nursing staff at Midtown Medical 6th Floor, family and friends for all the support and love shown during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to American Cancer Society in Mr. Brassell’s honor.
