Duke Peterson

July 12, 1944 — December 6, 2020

Duke Peterson, age 76, resident of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Sunday,  December 6, 2020 at Piedmont Midtown Columbus.  Graveside services are scheduled at Hatchechubbee United Methodist Cemetery, Hatchechubbee, Alabama on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 2 p.m. (EST).

Mr. Peterson, son of the late Henry C. Peterson and Mildred Lee Moss Peterson, was born July 12, 1944 in Columbus.  He was retired from the textile industry.  Mr. Peterson served his country honorably in Germany during the Vietnam Era Conflict, as a soldier in the U.S. Army.
He was a simple man, enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.  Mr. Peterson always maintained a great memory throughout his life, and looked forward to watching classic western movies.

The family remembers him as a well liked man, a man who always showed kindness to anyone.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Ann Holmes.  Mr. Peterson is survived by a brother-in-law, Thomas Paul Holmes of Hatchechubbee, Alabama; nephews, Robert Troy Holmes and Jason Paul Holmes, both of Hatchechubbee; niece, Tracy LeeLynn Holmes of Greely, Colorado; many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Hatchechubbee United Methodist Church, 1 Faith Circle, Hatchechubbee, Alabama 36858.
