Durwood C. Kite, 68, of Fort Mitchell, AL passed away Monday afternoon, September 14, 2015 at the Gentiva Hospice House in Columbus, GA.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 am EDT Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Oswichee Cemetery in Fort Mitchell with Rev. Ralph Henderson and Mr. Patrick Robey officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.
Mr. Kite was born October 23, 1946 in Columbus, GA to late Leonard Kite and Frances Kite. He was retired from Southern Mechanical in Atlanta, GA and was a Baptist by faith. He was an avid golf player and was a member of the Dixie Senior Golf Association. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Reese Kite, a sister, Angelyn Kite Sears, and a brother-in-law, Alan Sears.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Barbara Blake Kite of Fort Mitchell, AL, two daughters, Regina “Reggie” Arrowood and husband Kyle Arrowood, and Dawn Stitzer and husband SFC (Retired) Gerald Stitzer of Fort Mitchell, AL; son, Ronnie Charles Loyd and wife Joanna of Smiths Station, AL; one sister, Gladys Kite Smith of Fort Mitchell, AL; (7) grandchildren, Brittany, Kimberley “George” and husband Justin, Jackson, Madison Paige, Bobby Jo, Casondra, and J. T., (9) great grandchildren, numerous other loving family members, and many caring friends.
