Earl Charlie Ward, 85, of Columbus, GA. Passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, February 27, 2014 beginning at 12:00 P.M. EST, at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. Reverend Ulus Luker will be officiating. Interment will conclude at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. EST, at the funeral home.
Earl Charlie Ward was born December 21, 1928 in Slocumb, Alabama, son of the late Benjamin Charlie Ward and Leola Mae Killingsworth Ward. Earl served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Earl later went to work for The Muscogee County Sherif's Department. He retired after 27 years of service to the department as a deputy. Earl was a member of Central Assembly of God.
Other than his parents, Earl is preceded in death by daughter Phyllis Brock, son Hollis Wayne Outlaw Survivors include his devoted wife Mary Elizabeth Jones Ward, of Columbus, GA; daughter Phyllis Brock, of Dawn, North Carolina; sons, Donald Earl Ward, of Marion County, GA, and Randolph G. Outlaw, of Columbus, GA; sister, Doris Meacham Rowe, of Columbus, GA; brothers, Aubrey E. Ward, of Phenix City, AL, and Charles D. Ward, of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Amy Bailey, Tammy Pope, and Heather Brock; great-grandchildren, Tyler Pope, Colby Pope, Sidney Bailey, Myra Bailey, Gabriel Brock and Emma Brock. Earl Ward was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and caring brother he will be deeply missed.
