Ebbie Laverne White

Ebbie “Laverne” White, 94, of Fort Mitchell, AL passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, March 1, 2016 at Cottage Assisted Living in Carrollton, GA.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 am EST Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Oswichee Baptist Church with Rev. Rendell Day officiating.  Interment will follow at Oswichee Cemetery.

Mrs. White was born October 20, 1921 in Fort Mitchell, AL to Noah Jasper Corbitt and Sarah Elizabeth “Betty” Kite Corbitt.  She was retired from Columbus Mills and was a longtime member of Oswichee Baptist Church.  She enjoyed flower gardening, and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was deeply devoted to her family.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James Harold White, six sisters, four brothers, and one grandchild.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Elaine Layfield and husband Bob of Big Canoe, GA, son, Don Tillman and wife Lisa of Villa Rica, GA, grandchildren, Tracey Stutzman (Nick), Paige Case (Byron), Shannon Boss (Kelly), Mackenzie Owens (Ethan), Mason Tillman, Heath Layfield (Sara), and Heather McCullough (Mac); (10) great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
