Edeltraud (Oma) Castles, 84, of Columbus, GA died in her sleep while residing at her son's home. Visitation will be Monday November 4th, from 6pm to 8pm at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be held graveside at Evergreen Memorial Park, 4400 St Mary's Rd, Columbus, GA, Tuesday November 5th, at 2pm. Fellowship will be held at the New Apostolic Church, 5831 Billings Rd, Columbus, GA. She was born in Steins Dorf Krels Niesse, Germany. She immigrated to the United States in 1956 and became a citizen in 1962. Edeltraud was preceded in death by her parents Wilhelm and Pauline Mendera, a granddaughter and her husband Thomas E. Castles. She is survived by her son James J. Castles and wife Patricia. Daughter Hannelore R. Barfield and husband Wayne. One sister, Martha Riegel, (Germany). Five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Edeltraud was a former employee of Cartersville Spinning Mill and a professional seamstress. She was an active member of the New Apostolic Church. She sang in the choir and participated in several senior activities. Oma was deeply devoted to loving her family. She will be missed by her church and family.
