Edna Smith Crook, 67, of Phenix City, AL, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm EST, on Friday, December 18, 2015, at Vance Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Skip Speed officiating. Interment will be at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery and the family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm EST, at Vance Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Crook was born on February 16, 1949, in Smiths Station, AL, the daughter of the late Marvin Weldon Hollingsworth and Ruby Jones Hollingsworth. She worked as a cook for Waffle House and was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church and VFW Auxiliary Post 5404 in Auburn. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.
Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her grandmother, Ruby G. Godwin, brothers, Richard L. Smith, Johnny R. Hollingsworth, a son in-law, Ray A. Houston, and brother in-laws, Walter E. Crook, Sr. and Johnny Crook.
She is survived by her husband, James “Jimbo” Crook; 2 daughters, Nancy Houston and Theresa Holmes, husband Wesley; sister, Terry Faye Miller; 2 brothers, Tommy Hollingsworth and Perry Hollingsworth; Larry and Donna Crook, Linda and Billy Higgins and Diane and John Cuppernell; 7 grandchildren, Brandy, Jamie, Brooke, Wesley, Jr., Corey, Matthew and Dylan; 10 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
