Edward Hendree Paine, Jr., 84, of Columbus, GA passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus. A funeral service will be held at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus GA on Friday, July 21, 2017 beginning at 3:00 P.M. EST with the Reverend Cindy Cox Garrard of St. Luke United Methodist Church officiating. The interment will conclude the service at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 P.M.
He was born August 30, 1932 in Columbus, GA to the late Edward Hendree Paine, Sr. and Helen Wash Paine. “Bubber”, as he was known to family and friends, attended Columbus schools and graduated from the University of Georgia where he was a member of SAE Fraternity and continued afterwards to be an avid “Dawg” fan.
He was associated with the family business, Helen Paine Flowers and Gifts and was a member of the Columbus and GA. State Florists Association. He was also a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
He loved playing basketball for Columbus High School and later enjoyed golf. He loved being with family and friends and enjoyed life as shown by his winsome smile.
Other than his parents, He is predeceased by his niece, Amy Andrews.
Survivors include his son, Edward Hendree Paine III (Patti); his sister, Patti Paine Andrews (Mote); a nephew, Mote Andrews III (Jena); and a niece, Courtenay Andrews Byrd (John).
Memorials may be made to St. Luke Methodist Church Meals on Wheels or to Amy Andrews Scholarship Fund, Brenau University, 500 Washington St., S.E., Gainesville, GA 30501.
