Effie Shirley Morris

Effie Shirley Morris, age 72, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center, Columbus, Georgia. Graveside services are scheduled at Lakeview Memory Gardens, 3800 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama on Friday, May 28, 2021, 11 a.m. with Reverend Ricky Ward officiating, according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 6-8 p.m.
Mrs. Morris, daughter of the late Tommy Monroe Davis and Annie Doris Mask Davis, was born August 14, 1948 in Opelika, Alabama. She was a homemaker and Baptist by faith. Mrs. Morris loved animals, and even enjoyed taking care of stray animals. She enjoyed cooking, drawing, and spending time with children. Mrs. Morris also enjoyed traveling to small towns for the sites and restaurants. When at home, she enjoyed watching Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and talking with family and friends. The family remembers her has a lady who loved God, children, her family, and animals.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracey Joelle Lawhon; grandson, Bubba Shane Lawhon; and brother, Tommy Elton “Buddy” Davis.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Gary Morris; sister, Joan Watkins; granddaughter, Nicole Yancey and her husband, D.J. Yancey; great-grandchildren, Bryce Yancey and Baylee Yancey; nieces, Barbara Carey and Melodie Adcock; nephews, Tommy Davis, Jr. , Tim Davis and his wife Patricia Davis, Sherman Adcock, Jr., James Adcock, and Carlton Batts; cousins, Ann Bosarge and Judy Maddox; and numerous friends.
