Eldridge Lake, 95, of Valley, AL died at his daughter’s home on Sunday, September 1, 2024, surrounded by loving family while under the care of Columbus Hospice.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM (EST) on Wednesday, September 04, 2024, in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45AM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Lake was born January 09, 1929, in Tallassee, AL son of the late Willis B. Lake and Cora Pitchford Lake. As a young man he earned his Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. He continued supporting Scouting as an adult serving as a Scout Master. Mr. Lake was a Superintendent for Wright Associates for many years. He loved to work with stone and wood to create beautiful buildings and smaller projects. He never ceased working. We will remember that he was quick to delegate “projects” to anyone who dared to stop moving when around him. He also loved to garden. Growing vegetables was as natural to him as building was to him. Mr. Lake was at home on the river where he lived and enjoyed fishing in his limited down time. He has built a solid foundation for our family, and we are thankful for this.
Mr. Lake was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Cora Lake; wife of 64 years, Catherine “Kitty” Linton Lake; and four siblings, Mack Lake, Wilma Lake Meadows, Bruce Lake and Frank Lake.
Survivors include his two daughters, Kathy Lake, Valley, AL and Anne Lake Harrison (Ralph), Phenix City, AL; sister-in-law, Betty Jean Lake (wife of Mack); two grandsons, Will Harrison (Emily) and Grant Harrison (Amanda); and three great-grandchildren, Greenlea, Lake and Ridge; several nieces, nephews and friends.
The family wants to offer a special thank you to his caregivers, Joanne Williams, Becky Parker and Ann Warren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his memory to Columbus Hospice, www.columbushospice.com.
