It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eleanor Rose Strickland, a devoted mother of six, grandmother of eleven, great-grandmother of thirteen, great-great grandmother of eight and friend, who peacefully passed on January 27, 2025, at the age of 99.
Born on October 21, 1925, Eleanor Strickland was a woman whose life was anchored in her deep Christian faith. She was a faithful servant of God, finding strength, guidance, and purpose in her relationship with Christ. Her unwavering faith was the foundation of everything she did, and she lived her life with compassion, grace, and an unshakeable love for her family.
A proud mother to six children, Eleanor poured her heart into raising them, instilling in them the values of kindness, integrity, and love for God. She was an example of patience and wisdom, offering a steady hand and a listening ear through every season of life. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and all who knew her will remember her for her boundless love, her nurturing spirit, and the powerful impact of her prayers.
Her faith extended beyond her family. She was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist church and later, Pinehurst Baptist Church, where she served joyfully in various ministries and touched the lives of many with her kindness and encouragement. Eleanor believed deeply in the power of prayer and the love of Christ, and her strength was a living testament to her trust in God’s plan.
Her presence was a true blessing, and her absence will be profoundly felt by her loved ones and all who were touched by her.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, 1st Sergeant Willie Clyde Strickland, her son, Darrell Strickland, her daughter, Dianna Capps, and her grandson, Jimmy Capps. She is survived by her son, Gary Strickland, and her daughters, Karen Enfinger, Brenda Holderfield and Wanda Jackson, who take comfort in knowing she is now in the arms of our savior.
A celebration of Eleanor’s life and faith will be held in the small chapel at Pinehurst Baptist Church on February 3rd at 2:00 PM where we will honor the life of a woman who loved deeply and lived faithfully. Visitation with the family will be held at Pinehurst Baptist Church on February 3rd from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM. May Eleanor rest in peace surrounded by God’s eternal love.
