Ms. Elizabeth Anastasia Emberlin, 92, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, September 12, 2023, at the Canterbury Healthcare in Phenix city, AL.
Ms. Emberlin was born April 30, 1931, in Beuthen in Upper Silesia, Germany the daughter of the late Herbert Piechula and Martha Muschiol Kalin. She became a Master Seamstress prior to leaving Germany for the United States. She enjoyed crocheting, and sewing many materials that became a work of excellence for someone to display or wear. She had a great love for nature and animals. She took pride in providing for the needs of her local neighborhood stray cats, and she especially loved spending time and taking care of her pet dog, Bella,who was always by her side. She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church in Phenix City and loved singing in the choir.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Emberlin was preceded in death by her husbands, Eugene C. Cooksey, and Jessie Emberlin; two brothers and two sisters, Christine Deneen, and Johanna Gordon.
Left to cherish her memory are her caregiver and friend, Becky Aderhold and husband Richard of Phenix City, AL; nieces, Deborah Mordecai, and Ann Deneen, her church family at Lakewood Baptist Church; her neighbors; the supporting staff at Canterbury Healthcare, and her caregivers at Gentiva Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, contributions wishes are to be made to your local Humane Society in memory of Ms. Elizabeth Anastasia Emberlin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EDT on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Dr. Jerry Horner officiating. A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, the family will receive friends at the funeral service in Phenix City.
