Elizabeth Ann Cox

Elizabeth Ann Baker Cox, 75, of Phenix City, AL died peacefully at her home on Friday, August 18, 2023 with her family by her side.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM (EST) on Thursday, August 24, 2023 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Bud Rupel officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cox was born April 19, 1948 in Phenix City, AL daughter of the late Hugh Baker and Eva Johnson Baker. She had retired from the Phenix City Police Department as a CID Specialist after several years of dedicated service. Ms. Elizabeth was also an active member of Silver Run Baptist Church, Phenix City, AL where she enjoyed worship and fellowship with family and friends. She was an excellent cook and baker. Ms. Elizabeth made the best turkey and dressing, chocolate delight and coconut cakes just to name a few things. Family to her was priority and she found great joy in being with them at family gatherings, ballgames or any activity. The fond memories she has left us to cherish will forever bring happy smiles to our faces as we remember them.
Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Eva Baker; one sister and two brothers.
Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Gordon Cox, Phenix City, AL; two sons, Robert Dykes (Yolan) and James “Jimmy” Dykes (Renee); two step-sons, Mark Cox (Kimberly) and Michael Cox (Elizabeth “Beth”); one sister, Shirley Baker; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
