Elmo Llewellyn "Bubba" Torbert, Jr.

Elmo Llewellyn “Bubba” Torbert, Jr., 78, of Hurtsboro, AL passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL.

 Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm CST / 3:00 pm EST Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Hurtsboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Turner officiating.  Interment with Military Honors will follow at Hurtsboro Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Friday December 1, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm CST / 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, Alabama.

 Mr. Torbert was born November 5, 1939 in Columbus, GA to Elmo Llewellyn “Lew” Torbert, Sr., and Margaret Carroll Torbert.  He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1962.   Mr. Torbert was a veteran of the United States Army, having served as a First Lieutenant.  He was a longtime resident of Hurtsboro and a member of Hurtsboro United Methodist Church, where he was a lifelong member of the choir.  He served on the Russell County Water Authority for 40 years.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his beautiful bride of 47 years, June McCain Torbert.

 He is survived by his children, Elmo Llewellyn “Chip” Torbert, III and wife Lisa of Columbus, GA, Anthony McCain “Tony” Torbert of Dunwoody, GA, and Allison Torbert Fox and husband Dana of Peachtree City, GA; four grandchildren, Mitchell Llewellyn Torbert, Margaret Elizabeth Torbert, Amelia McCain Fox, and Andrew Llewellyn Fox, a host of extended loving family, church family, and many caring friends.
