Elsie Faye McCoy, 95, of Columbus, GA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at her residence. A funeral service will be held at Northside Baptist Church, 959 54th St., Columbus, GA on Friday, September 20, 2019 beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jerry Speer officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends Friday, September 20, 2019 at Northside Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, one hour prior to the service.
Faye was born on August 8, 1924 in Minden, LA to the late John and Elsie Burns. She worked for many years in the Treasurer’s Office for the City of Columbus. Faye was a very talented and gifted woman who spent her life reaching out to help others. She enjoyed walking and working crossword puzzles as well as sewing. Many beautiful clothes were made by her skillful hands just for her daughter. Music also became a passion in her life, a gift that lives on through her family. Faye will always be remembered as a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed but will always hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Other than her parents, Faye is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Jack C. McCoy, Sr.; son, Jack C. McCoy, Jr.; two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Wood (Zach) of Columbus, GA; eight grandchildren: Andy Brundage (Crystal), Jake Wood, Anna Kathryn Wood, Jaxson Wood, and Jonathan McCoy (Angel), all of Columbus, GA; Joshua McCoy (Antonia) of Marietta, GA, Jack McCoy, III of San Clemente, CA, and Amanda Leslie of Hampton, IL; five great-grandchildren: Gabe McCoy, Savannah McCoy, Lilly McCoy, Ephraim Brundage, and Jonah McCoy.
