Elvin H. Nix

Elvin H. Nix, 89, of Phenix City, AL passed away Friday evening, January 12, 2024, at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.
Mr. Nix was born March 10, 1934, in Blakely, GA, son of the late Edward Nix and Nina Mae Jones Nix.  He was the owner/operator of Nix Grading and Excavation in Phenix City providing 50 years of dedicated service and expertise to the Phenix City Chattahoochee Valley.  He was a member of the Phenix City Lions Club.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, nature, and boating having the opportunity to journey many times down the Chattahoochee River all the way to the Apalachicola Bay and Panama City Beach area.  He enjoyed fellowship, his friends, and most of all spending quality time with all his family.  He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church in Phenix City.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son and daughter, Ellis H. Nix and Elesa Nix; two sisters, Laurie Vasquez, and Gladys Gibson; and one brother, Troy Daniels.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Charlene Parks Nix of Phenix City, AL; son, Eddie Nix, and wife Debi of Phenix City; four grandchildren, Brandon Nix and wife Chariss, Ashley Nix, Shane Reuber, and John Rogers and wife Brittney; eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members, church family, and many caring friends.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm EST on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Woodland Baptist Church in Phenix City with Pastor Jonathan Pike officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at Woodland Baptist Church on Thursday, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm EST.  A private place of rest will take place by his loving family in a very special place.
