Erica Elizabeth Henderson

Erica Elizabeth Henderson, 37, of Columbus, GA passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Mid-town Medical Center in Columbus.  A funeral service will be held at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Saturday, April 22, 2017 beginning at 11:00 A.M. EST with Bishop Michael Fisher, Sr. officiating.  The committal service will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery beginning at 10:00 A.M. EST.  The family will receive friends Friday, April 21, 2017 at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. EST. 

A Time to Be Born

Erica Elizabeth (Brown) Henderson was born on July 6, 1979 to Daisy Lee Patrick and Anthony Brown in Okeechobee, FL.

After the union of Daisy Lee Patrick and Michael Fisher (Step-Father), she enjoyed the life of an army brat.  She attended elementary school in Colorado Springs, CO, Erlangen, Germany, and FT. Benning/Columbus GA, where she graduated from Spencer High School with honors.

Erica attended Columbus State University and while working on her Bachelor in Arts degree (B.A. Political Science), she also worked two part-time jobs.  She graduated May, 2001 with honors (Magna Cum Laude) when receiving her degree Bachelor in Arts Political Science/Pre Law degree.

A Time to Love

On April 2, 2002, she was married to Calvin C. Henderson in Phenix City, AL.  Ten days later the two would have to put the love on hold until his return from combat.

Once again united, both of them headed to Carbondale, IL, where they both enrolled at Southern Illinois University.  Erica received a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) on December 10, 2006.

On January 8, 2008, she gave birth to a set of twins, which were carried a couple weeks shy of full term and with no complications.  

No matter where Erica went, her smile lead the way.  Brightening any place, her simplistic ways would defuse any situation.  Erica had a kind and giving sprit. She would gladly give the shirt off her back for those she loved. She would also display a protective nature to those who tried to do her or her loved ones wrong.

A Time to Remember

Erica Elizabeth Henderson departed this life on April 11, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Mid-Town Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, a dedicated husband, Calvin; a set of twins, Cameron (son) and MaCayla (daughter); loving parents:  Daisy Lee Patrick, Michael Fisher Sr., and Anthony Brown; three affectionate younger brothers:  Michael Jr., Derrick Fisher and Jeremy Smith; one sister-in-law, Mattie; three nephews;  Michael III, Derrick Jr. and Matthew; one niece, Treasure; Grandmother, Rebecca Brown; five aunts; Juanita, Judy, Linda, Bessie and Betty; four uncles:  Pete, Lorenzo, Rufus, Dallas and Frankie; a devoted cousin, Denise Ervin; a host of cousins; Godmother, Elizabeth Fant; Ms. LaToya Young and also her lifelong friends who she also considered as sisters:  Linda, Janille, Nichele and Damaris.
