Ernest S. Evans Jr

Ernest S. Evans, Jr., 92, of Smiths Station passed away Friday morning in the comfort of his home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am EDT Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Skip Speed officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Mr. Evans was born June 14, 1923 in Prattville, AL to the late Ernest S. Evans Sr. and Stella Sides Evans. He served his country in the Navy before returning to this area where he worked at Lummus Industries and Continental Gen until retiring. He fished as many days as possible and loved his family dearly. He is survived by his wife, Marie Evans; daughters, Jo Ann Ellis, Stella Daughtery and husband Allen and Cindy Woodall and husband Tracy; son, Ernest S. Evans III; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; extended family, and many caring friends.
