Ethel Joyce Cauley Bias, 81 of Columbus, GA and formally of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully late Sunday evening at Gentiva Hospice in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am EDT Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Golden Acres Baptist Church in Phenix City with Dr. Ray Cummings and Rev. Rodney Porter officiating. A private interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall at the church after the service. Mrs. Bias was born September 8, 1933 in Elba, AL to the late Benjamin Franklin Cauley and Clara Belle Anderson Cauley. She was retired from Columbus High School with over 25 years of Service. She was a member of the Phenix City Shrinettes and the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Bias enjoyed all the activities at River Place and was a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mansfield Bias, Sr., a brother, Oneal Cauley and one sister, Mavis Marie Jacobs. She is survived by three sons, Mansfield Bias, Jr. and wife Bernice of Columbus, GA, Richard Allen Bias and wife Karen of Columbus, GA, and Robert Lewis Bias and wife Debra of Crawford, AL Seven grandchildren, Brandon Bias (Megan), Benjamin Bias, Rachel Bias Brown (Brooks), Ricky Bias, Hunter Bias, Dakota Bias and Caleb Bias; two great grandchildren, Emily Ann Bias, and Riley Brooke Brown and two more on the way, a very special niece and nephew, Darlene Jacobs Shirley and William D. Jacobs, numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family and many caring friends. The family would to express their appreciation to all the faculty and staff at Gentiva Hospice for the care and love shown for their mother. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Golden Acres Baptist Church.
