Eugene H. Knox, 72, of Phenix City, AL passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 10, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm EDT on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Mike Grimes officiating. Interment with Military honors will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at the funeral home.
Mr. Knox was born June 15, 1945 in Columbus, GA to the late Harold Knox and Mary McKenzie Mathews. He was retired as a supervisor with Swift Textile with 45 plus years of service. He served our country proudly and was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was a former member of the VFW and enjoyed hunting and fishing, relaxing on the beach while watching all the boats and waves of the beautiful ocean. He was a Baptist by faith.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Janice Jordan Knox, one son, Byron Knox, two sisters, Linda Knox McCarty and husband Bobby, and Pam Looper Gouge and husband Mack, one brother, Bobby Knox and wife Carolyn, and one precious granddaughter, Alex Dunn, several nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
