Eula Eleanor Burkett

Eula E. Burkett, age 84, resident of Columbus, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at her residence.  Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Vance-Brooks Funeral Home on Monday, November 18, 2019, 3 p.m. with Reverend Danny Courtney officiating.  Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 6-8 p.m.

Mrs. Burkett, daughter of the late Dozier Dixon and Hyacinth Nichols Dixon, was born April 30, 1935 in Columbus.  She was retired from Fieldcrest Mills after many years of faithful service.  After retirement, she devoted her life to taking care of her family, and after her husband's death she devoted many hours of continuing the family business, Burkett Body Shop and Garage.  Mrs. Burkett lived life to the fullest, enjoying spending time with her children and grandchildren.  The family remembers her as a devoted, loving, and caring mother and grandmother, always involved with the family. 

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Burkett; a son, Billy Joe Burkett Sr.; two daughters, Sheila Downs and Deborah Burkett; and a sister, Dorothy Kelly.

Mrs. Burkett is survived by three sons, Kenneth Burkett and his wife Kaye, James Burkett and his wife Tracy, and John Burkett, all of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
