Eunice Valentini

Irma “Eunice” Valentini, 88, of Columbus, GA passed away peacefully Saturday, January 6, 2018 at her home.

Mrs. Valentini was born May 14, 1929 in Grady County to the late Jesse Lee Harrison and Bessie Irene Harrison. She was raised in Climax, GA, attended Bell Dixon Grammer School and graduated from Climax High School. Following graduation, Mrs. Valentini moved to Columbus and began working at Tom’s Foods until she met and married her husband of 52 years William A. Valentini (Ret) MSG US Army. Mrs. Valentini then dedicated her life to being a devoted and loving military wife and mother raising her 7 children and caring for her home. She would later take employment and retire from Kmart.   Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, her son Greg Valentini and several brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Valentini remains an inspiration and light to all who had the honor of knowing her. She had a heart filled with unending love, possessed a quiet dignity and had the gifts of humility and compassion for others. Her strong faith in the Lord was evident by the way she gracefully lived her life as she became a legacy of love, faith and hope for all. 

She is survived by her children Sandra Valentini Jackson (Mike)  of Pawley’s Island, SC; William Allen Valentini, Jr (Sherry Cole) of Phenix City, AL; Richard Valentini of Columbus; Jerry Valentini (Cindy) of Madison, AL; Steve Valentini (Michael G. Kelly) of Waverly Hall, GA;  and Lorri Valentini of Columbus; grandchildren Ricky Valentini (Ashley), Clay Valentini, Jacob Howard (Lori), Amanda Golz (Jay), William Allen Valentini III (Brandy), Ryan Valentini (Megan), Micah Howard, Lacey Valentini, Blaine Valentini, Drew Howard (Lenzie) and Cameron Valentini (Samantha);  great-grandchildren Tripp Valentini, Bailee Valentini, Dysin Valentini,  Brycen Lynch , Jacob Howard, Will Howard, John Cooper Golz, Evelyn Valentini, Ava Valentini, August Valentini, Laken Howard, Sailor Watkins Howard, and Sebastian Howard;  daughter in law Tracey Valentini; brother, Council Harrison (Ivy) of Ft. Mitchell;AL  sisters-in-law, Ann Harrison of Harris County, GA, Reba Harrison of Climax, GA  Love Harrison of  Columbus, and Elaine Harrison of Chesterfield, MI;  numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and many caring friends.

Services for Mrs. Valentini will be 7 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Rd. with Pastor Sandra Valentini Jackson, Rev. Dan MacMinn and Pastor Ed Ray officiating. The family will receive friends at Vance Brooks Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until service time. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery on Friday, January 12, 2018.
