Eva M. King

Eva Mae King, 77, Columbus, GA, passed away March 4, 2015 at Gentiva Hospice. A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2015 beginning at 1:00 P.M. EST. The family will receive friends at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA. 31907, Friday March 6, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. EST. Eva Mae King was born May 11, 1937 in Jack, AL, daughter of the late Joel Gatlin and Decee Flowers Gatlin. Eva retired from Swift Textile after 30 years of service. Eva loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. She will forever be remembered as a dedicated wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a caring friend. Other than her parents, Eva is preceded in death by her husband of 48 wonderful years, George Willis King; three brothers, Pete, Jessie, and Dick Gatlin; sister, Mary Gatlin Dykes; niece, Lisa Gatlin; and sister in law, Shirley Arrington. Survivors include: her sons, Danny King, and Allen King, both of Columbus, GA; two brothers, Ben Gatlin and wife Tina, of Columbus, GA, Joel Gatlin, Jr. and wife Lynnette, of Fortson, GA; four grandchildren, Tyler King, Ashley King, Billy Whitwell and Beth Myers; brother in law, Charlie Arrington, of Phenix City, AL; Eva is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many caring friends.
